Een hele goede kennis vroeg me om 6 stoelen van haar grootouders opnieuw te bekleden. Het bleek model 71 te zijn van Hovmand Olsen waarvan ik er zelf een in huis heb. Ik ben echt een grote fan van dit ontwerp. Elke kant van de stoel is gemaakt van slechts twee stukken hout.
Deze sculpturale eetkamerstoelen zijn ontworpen voor Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik. De stoel is organisch gevormd zoals te zien is aan de ronde, bijna takachtige poten en het elegante open detail in de armleuningen. Het frame vloeit sierlijk helemaal van onder naar boven. De rugleuning is gebogen en lijkt net zo natuurlijk bij het frame te horen als een bloem bij zijn stengel.
Op de foto's hieronder zie je het proces dat we begonnen met twee stoelen. De linker op de grote foto is schoongemaakt en opnieuw geolied. De eigenaresse gaat op zoek naar een nieuwe stof voor de bekleding. Wordt vervolgd…
A very good acquaintance asked me to reupholster 6 chairs that belonged to her grandparents. They turned out to be model 71 from Hovmand Olsen of which myself have one at home. I am really a big fan of this design. Each side of the chair is made of only two pieces of wood.
These sculptural dining chairs are designed for Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik. The chair is organically shaped as can be seen in the rounded, almost branch like legs and the elegant open detail in the armrests. The frame flows gracefully all the way from the bottom to the top. The backrest is curved and seems to belong to the frame as naturally as a flower belongs to its stem.
In the pictures above you can see the proces that we started with two chairs. The left one in the big picture is cleaned and oiled again. The own will start looking for a new fabric for the upholstery. To be continued…
